Boys Varsity Football Fall 2021-2022 Community Event.
Military Appreciation Night
Every year the Penn Manor Football Team recognizes the many branches of the US Military. Family Members of the team highlight those they wish to recognize. Names are listed in the program the night of the game. The student section wears red, white and blue. The cheerleaders dress in colors as well. Support the USA and the Military by showing your colors at the first home football game. Anyone wishing to recognize a military member in the football program may do so by emailing Jbrubaker@families4kids.org.
In the event COVID restrictions are listed, in 2021 we hope to invite military members to be honored during the game on August 27, 2021.
Coach To Cure MD
Coach To Cure MD is a partnership between the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), a professional organization for over 10,000 college football coaches and staff, and Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (PPMD), the largest national charity devoted exclusively to Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
In 2008 the AFCA adopted PPMD's Coach To Cure MD program as one of their charity efforts. One reason the AFCA was drawn to Coach To Cure MD was because of the unique parallels between Duchenne, a disorder which robs young men of precious muscle strength and college football, a game where young men are at the peak of their muscle strength. The goals of Coach To Cure MD are simple: •Raise national awareness of the disorder •Raise money to fund research for a cure
Our approach to reaching these goals is also simple:
One football Saturday of each season AFCA coaches nationwide agree to promote Coach To Cure MD.By wearing armbands, mentioning Coach To Cure MD during on and off-field interviews, and in some instances doing even more extensive media relations around the date, coaches are rolling up their sleeves and proudly getting involved.
The Penn Manor Coaches and Team has been active in this event since 2017. This event is held at a home game in September. In 2021, the game is planned for September 10, 2021 as long as all COVID restrictions are lifted.
Comet Reading Club
The Penn Manor Football program wants to encourage young students to read. Each year the players participate in a reading program with the elementary schools. In the past the team visited the schools and each met with a small group of students to read their favorite book as a child. The pandemic put a hold on this activity, but we hope to return to it in the near future.
So lets GET READY, GET STARTED, and GET READING!!!!
Four Diamonds Fund
Each year the team participates in a Lift A Thon to raise money for the Four Diamonds Fund.
PMJC Night
The Penn Manor Football team is full support of the PMJC program. When able the team will visit a practice to support the younger players. The high school coaching staff shares information including but limited to full access to X & O Labs.
This year in 2021, PMJC night will be October 1, 2021 (as long as all COVID restrictions are lifted.)
