Boys Varsity Football Fall 2024-2025 Special Events.
Special Events
Below are a list of special events that occur historically for Penn Manor Football.
Lift A Thon- Currently on hold
Player Reading Program: This program has been placed on hold since covid. However, it has been designed for high school players to visit the elementary schools once or 2 a year to participate in promoting reading among our younger students.
Team Work Outs:
Work outs will be scheduled in the off season. All players are encouraged to attend these to receive additional practice and instruction. These workouts may be scheduled indoors during the winter months, and outside once the weather warms up.
Opportunities occur to participate at field houses in passing work outs either as a team, a mini camp, or indoor 7 on 7 challenges. These events are not mandatory but all players are encouraged to attend as much as possible to plan for the new season.
Road Graders Challenge:
The Challenge is scheduled in June and held at Manheim Central High School. The Challenge fees are used to raise money for an identified charity. Schools may put together teams of five at the coast of $100 per team. Only players physically ready may participate in this event, others are encouraged to attend to watch to prepare for a future year. This is typically lineman, guards, and tight ends. Parents are courage to attend to support the teams. The event takes most of the day and lunch is provided to the players. The day is designed with several competitive events testing strength and speed. A permission form is required to attend.
7 on 7’s-Full Team:
The Penn Manor football team will routinely attend and schedule several events that are referred to as 7 on 7 or full team events. Wilson host a full day event in June made up of several teams. The day is designed in a tournament format.
Additional events will be scheduled with surrounding teams over the summer. Attempts are made to keep these events scheduled on the same days that existing team work outs are scheduled. The coaching staff will inform the team if the work out is for the entire team or just the 7 on 7 crew.
Flag Football:
This is held on Sundays in April. Our players are required to sign up to volunteer to coach a younger team. This is a great community and learning event for the team. This is also a small fundraiser for the program as well.
Parent Meeting:
An opening season parent meeting is held in May. This is required for at least one parent to attend. This is the sign up for the football season and the initial fundraiser is initiated.
Team Photos:
A team photo will be scheduled for August. A link to order photos will be shared. PM has nothing to do with the printing of these photos. Any questions should directly go to the photographer.
The booster club makes a poster up for each player to be hung up at home games. At the end of the players career, all posters are handed out to the seniors at the banquet.
Special Events at Games
Military Night:
The first home game will be Military Appreciation Night. At pre game players are asked to invite a friend or family member to join them on the field for recognition. Email these names to coach at least 1 week before the game takes place.
PMJC Night:
During one home game the football players and cheerleaders are invited to a home game. Each team is announced at pre game and permitted to run onto the field. The cheerleaders rotate working with the high school cheerleaders.
Coach to Cure/Teacher Appreciation Night:
One home game is used to promote Coach to Cure and MD disorder of young children. If a guest is present they are invited to participate in the coin toss.
This is also the game in which players are asked to invite a teacher for teacher recognition. The teachers can wear the away jersey and be introduced with the player during pre game. All names should be submitted a week before the game.
Home Coming:
Homecoming events are scheduled by the student council. BE aware, if a football player is nominated it is unfortunately problematic. Players then miss the half time team discussion which does interfere with the game. To attempt to limit this disruption, any players nominated will be announced at the end of the group. This allows the player to meet in the locker room with their team and then run out to join the home coming announcements. This is NOT time for a player to change clothes.
Sr Night:
All seniors will be recognized during the last home football game. Players/Parents must submit the needed information to the booster club at least 2 weeks prior to the game.
Bill Beck Event:
In Feb we hold an event to raise money for the Bill Beck Scholarship.
